Fishing Mortality Rate Table

Converting F to % Removal

For mathematical reasons, fishing mortality rates are generally expressed as "instantaneous rates," which are not identical to the percent of the stock removed on an annual basis. The table below provides a conversion between F rates and the annual percent removal.
Instantaneous Annual
Fishing Mortality Percent
Rate -- F Removal
0.05 5
0.1 10
0.5 40
1.0 64
1.5 78
2.0 87
2.5 92
